Bacon, Egg and Beans

    Baked beans- Friend or foe?
Baked beans have a mixed reputation. They are a great source of protein and fibre but they have suffered a bad reputation due to their high salt and sugar content. We've used reduced salt and sugar beans as they are a great way of keeping you full through the morning. Fried egg or Poached Egg?
Poached egg obviously! - there's less calories but we recognise that fried egg might be easier when you are in a hurry.
Bacon
Try to use unsmoked bacon rather than smoked. Remember eating processed or smoked meats too often is not the healthiest choice.

Shopping list for 4 200g Reduced sugar and salt baked beans
50g unsmoked back bacon grilled or griddled
1 fried or poached egg.
  • Method

You know how to do it!
Grill some bacon, microwave the beans and fry or poach an egg!
If you are short of time in the morning, you can pre-cook the bacon and put the beans in a microwaveable container to zap in the morning but fried and poached eggs have to be cooked fresh.
